| Instructional Program and Leadership
The instructional program at Rosemary Kennedy promotes students are
mastery of grade level standards based on the District Essential
Standards which are aligned to the California State Standards for
each grade level. Through District and Site Professional Development
opportunities all Certificated Staff are provided in depth training
as well as opportunity for grade level collaboration in efforts to
ensure that the program across a grade level is consistent. On site
categorical program monitoring reviews are conducted once every three
years. The Categorical Program Monitoring provides an opportunity
for each staff member to address the priority improvement efforts
of our school and engage in coordinated planning and program improvement.
Special Programs
To help ensure a quality education for all students, state and
federal funding is provided for the following special programs
to supplement
the core instructional program provided by the school district:
• Economic Impact Aid/Limited English Proficient (EIA/LEP)
• Title I
A school based coordinated program (SBCP) is in place at Rosemary
Kennedy Elementary School and provides flexibility for the
coordination of categorical programs/funds in an effort to have all children
achieve
grade level standards. SBCP programs are comprised of Economic
Impact Aid/Limited English Proficient (EIA/LEP) and Title I.
Title I funding provides for additional support to all students
in the core content area of Reading Language Arts and Mathematics.
These
funds are used to help our student in a variety of ways: academic
programs, technology, instructional materials, support personnel,
a bilingual assistant, and professional development.
There are 250 students currently identified as English Language
Learners. The program in place for our English Learners has
proven successful;
as we have continued to excel in ensuring students are acquiring
the English Language as defined by the state criteria. Special
Education services are available to identified students; these
services are
provided by a Resource Specialist and aligned to grade level
standards for Reading Language Arts and Mathematics. A Speech
and Language
Specialist provides designated instructional services to identified
students requiring assistance with speech. In addition, two
County Special Day Classes are housed at Rosemary Kennedy.
