Welcome to Hillcrest High School!

My staff and I are excited to start the 2014-2015 school year!   Many changes have occurred in the past few months.  I am pleased to announce that Hillcrest High School had a successful WASC visitation in the spring, and we have been granted our initial accreditation!  A special thank you to everyone involved in showcasing our amazing school.  In addition, we were awarded a grant in the spring for an incredible engineering program called Project Lead the Way.  This August, a group of our incoming 9th graders will begin their engineering journey.  This program will offer new courses each year and provide a wealth of opportunities for our students.  HHS also welcomes a new grade level in 2014-2015. We will now accommodate 9th, 10th, and 11th grade students.  With the addition of 11th grade, we are now offering twenty new courses, five of which will be Advanced Placement courses.  Twenty-five new staff members have joined our Trojan Team over the summer.    We have an incredible amount of talent, experience, and determination walking our halls.

This fall Hillcrest will enthusiastically launch our varsity athletic sports program.  Watch out CIF! Here come the Trojans!  Our Associated Student Body has also been busy this summer and is ready to launch our “Trojan Houses” this fall.  All students and staff will belong to a House for school wide competitions and spirit.   Hillcrest’s school culture is developing quickly.  Our vision is to provide an environment where all students will realize their unlimited potential.  We value Courage, Inclusiveness, Innovation, and Integrity; we believe that excellence lies within everyone.

Our Parent, Teacher, Student Association is back in full force this year, and our PTSA will be helping during registration.  I encourage you to stop by to speak with them and discover the myriad of ways you can be involved with our school.  Parent involvement is such an important part of a child’s educational experience and it does not stop at high school.  We believe that success is our shared responsibility and our community is enriched by its diversity.  Hillcrest strives to partner with our parents and community to benefit all students.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Best,

Jennifer Radeka
